Room Planner
Use this guide to plan the next
room you design. Filll out each question to focus and plan the
room. The room planner includes room elements such as furniture,
lighting, paint, architectural
details and trim, flooring,
windows
and coverings. It also includes design elements such as color,
form,
layout,
pattern
and texture.
The questions prompt thought about using the principes
of design to express your or your clients intent for the
room. Fill a form out for each room being designed, then email
it to yourself and your client for editing as the project progresses.
Swatch Board
Create your own swatch
board before designing a room. Start by getting a piece of foam
core or masonite to attach swatches to. The background should
have wall paper samples or be painted. Gather flooring samples,
trim samples, furniture and curtain material swatches and glue
them to the board to see if the scheme works together. Pay close
attention to textual and color conflicts. Does the board portray
the style intended for the room? To make the swatch board more
effective for visualization, add pictures of room elements like
furniture and lighting found in magazines or brochures. |
