Windows & Coverings / Example1

Windows as functional elements add light, warmth and brighten a room. As design elements, they can be incorporated into the overall grid or layout of a room if they are unique or are placed in original locations.

In this example, the windows on the right bathe the room in light. Yet the windows above the mantle help to frame in the fireplace, and distinguish the grid layout. These windows are more architectural design elements than functional elements.

Finding a window size or group of unique sizes can distinguish the living room, giving it the designer feel. Notice how the designer took advantage of the shelving area below the windows to place the two white vases. A subtle yet elegant approach that keeps the room from looking too cluttered.
